Military loans are short-term loans for personnel who are in active or inactive duty in the Air Force, Navy, Marines, National Guard, or Army. Military personnel have the opportunity to get cash quickly for a low interest rate, and without much hassle. How, though, does the repayment of the loans work? There are actually a few things you need to know about military loans that will help you understand your repayment process.
There is a maximum amount for borrowing a military loan and that is $10,000 at a time. For the purposes of military loans in general, we must look at a maximum of $10,000. Though, once you have your money, then you should think about how the most logical way to pay it back.
Most active duty loans require the member of Force, Marines, or other branch of the military up to one year to pay back the amount borrowed. The payments can be made a number of ways, which are totally up to you in most cases. You can pay monthly, weekly, or through your paycheck. It just depends on how you would like to set it up.
Allotments are the most common way to pay back your military loan. Late fees are not an issue if you have the amount taken out of your military paycheck. Some companies will require that you pay back your loan this way. They know the money is coming; you don’t have to remember to write a check each month.
A key benefit of an active duty loan is that there are no pre-payment penalties like traditional loans. No fees, no extra interest, and no problems with early payment. No matter how early you pay off the money you borrowed, you will only pay the amount. Paying off a loan early relieves you of accrued interested based on the amount left to pay off. Paying off the military loan will save you money in the long run.
Loans for military personnel are becoming a benefit used by the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, or even National Guard. Now that you have learned about what a loan is, you can and how the lender makes it easy for you to make payments, you can think of military loans as a solution if you need emergency cash.
